Vicente Rojo, painter and graphic designer
Vicente Rojo was born in Barcelona, Spain in 1932 and arrived in Mexico in 1949, where he worked on the design of the important magazine Artes de México, He studied painting at the National School of Painting, Drawing and Printmaking (“La Esmeralda)” in Mexico City.
Well-known in Mexico and Spain, he is the most important artist currently working in abstract art in Mexico and has been a member of the National College (Colegio Nacional, Mexico) since 1994. Rojo, along with Jose Luis Cuevas y Arnaldo Coen, is a member of the Breakaway Generation that marked a separation between painting and the muralist movement.
